ICS 100.a – FEMA Emergency Management Institute (EMI) Course
This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require a basic understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS).
This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). A written test is required for FEMA course certificates. Duration: 6-8 hours (an optional tabletop exercise adds time to the course)
ICS 200.a – FEMA Emergency Management Institute (EMI) Course This course is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). This course focuses on the management of single resources. ICS-200 provides training for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS. A written test is required for FEMA course certificates. Duration: 6 hours
ICS 402 Incident Command System (ICS) Overview for Executives/Senior Officials – FEMA Emergency Management Institute (EMI) Course The purpose of this course is to provide an orientation to the Incident Command System (ICS) for Executives and Senior Officials. It should be taken instead of ICS 100/200 for a quick overview. There is no test and no certificates are issued. Duration: 4 hours
IS-700.a National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents. This course provides a basic introduction to NIMS. It is not designed to replace Incident Command System and position-specific training. A written test is required for FEMA course certificates. Duration: 6 hours
